We recently got our entire house renovated from top to bottom, and the best decision we ever made on this project was to have Aaron and his team do the work for us. Aaron is very unique in the way he works, and what sets him apart from anyone else is that Aaron is not just a “great construction guy” who knows the ins and outs of all aspects of getting construction right, but also his awareness of the latest styles and trends makes him a designer built into a construction contractor. In fact, we went ahead and fired our designer that we had initially hired since Aaron was always able to come up with ideas and designs which were significantly better than what we (or our designer) could even imagine. The funny thing though is that these are not even the best parts about working with Aaron. The best part really is that he treats the client’s dollars as he would do his own, and uses a common sense approach to putting dollars where they give the maximum bang for the buck, and offers suggestions on cutting back in areas where the benefit isn’t necessarily as great. It is very difficult to find a contractor that you start to think of as part of family, but that is precisely how we feel about Aaron the way he always watches out for us. My suggestion to anyone considering doing any kind of renovation work is to call Aaron as having the right contractor is absolutely the most important decision you will make. There is a part of the culinary world that values presentation, new combinations of ingredients, and the avant-garde over good flavours. I have heard it said as almost a criticism on cooking shows that the chef “just” makes really delicious food. Blacktree definitely belongs to that school of thought. I found the meal to be a tour de force of form over substance. The presentations were beautiful, I could see that a lot of work went into the dishes, but the flavours were disappointing. Like Patricia below, I found the flavours did not complement one another. The actual proteins on the entrees were wonderful in and of themselves because they were of the highest quality and expertly prepared. But in each case the rest of the dish as a whole left all three of us flat. I can’t be quite as kind about the desserts, they were simply not good. The fig upside down cake was actually inedible. The service was excellent, we enjoyed our waiter and he was very attentive. But we found the pacing of the meal very slow. Sometimes this might be exactly what you want, but for us it was a work night and we didn’t like having to wait about an hour between the courses. It was a culinary experience that I enjoy having once in a long while, but there are so many restaurants that “just” serve delicious food that it will be a long time before I go back to Blacktree. I only had a cupcake as I had already eaten when I stumbled upon this place during the Sound of Music Festival in the summer but it was a great first impression. I had a Dulche de Leche Cupcake that was really tasty- not overly sweet. It was not very light and fluffy, but maybe this is the norm for dulce de leche cupcakes? Anyway, it was a very impressive cupcake being gluten free and vegan! I think I remember it was ever sugar-free? The place itself is very cute (so colourful!) and the staff was very friendly. I was wary to visit this place from the previous reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised! They've done renovations as well as changed their menu. It has been for the better! Our server, George, although new to the restaurant (starting one week prior) was very knowledgeable. I ask as many questions as possible, and I'm glad he could answer most, others he would go to the kitchen to ask any he did not know. One important question was where they source their beef, I was told it is all Ontario beef which pleased me. The Beef Carpaccio was nice, as well as the Beef Wellington. Not the most traditional way to create the dish, but it was still tasty. The pork was nice, although the apple-bacon compote may have been a bit over-the-top on bacon. The Lamb chop was crusted nicely and was done VERY evenly. The dessert was something else. Homemade marshmallows, homemade graham cookies, caramel sauce, and milk chocolate sauce. The marshmallows were on sticks and you have your own campfire that comes along with it. Very novel, very exciting, and the smell of the fire was very close to a campfire. All in all, a good visit. We've always wanted to try this place out, so we finally did! We reserved a table for two online for 630, but we didn't end up getting there until just before 7. The maitre'd read our special instructions that was sent with our online reservation and seated us in a quiet corner at a bigger booth for just the two of us. Not that the place was loud or overly busy, but it was great that we were seated farther away from the rest of the crowds that were there and we were not forgotten about! Since it was our first time there, our server showed us the menu and gave her suggestions. Some sounded tempting but we decided to go with our own choices. We both got steaks and got the Caesar salads to start. We also got bread with sweet butter and stuffed mushrooms. We started off with Caesar salad and bread served. Then our stuffed mushrooms. Then came our steaks. One done medium the other done medium well. They were both beautifully cooked and we both enjoyed our loaded potatoes as well! Since we were there to celebrate, our server took care of us with a rich dessert - double chocolate brownie! We enjoyed every part of our meal! The bread was a 7 grain bread, crisp on the outside, warm and light on the inside! The Caesar salad had a very nice garlic taste with a tiny kick. The steaks melted in your mouth and was easy to devour. The loaded potato (minus the chives) was nice and fluffy with lots of sour cream, cheese and bacon! And the dessert was an excellent addition! We both got drinks from the bar as well throughout our meal - they were mixed decently, but felt it was a little too light on the alcohol. All in all, our server was great, and never forgot about us, the maitre'd was excellent for our request. And we had a great first experience here. We'll definitely go again! Might I even say that its better than their competition? I believe so, but we'll have to see if they are just as great the second time around ;) Read more

This restaurant has become one of our favourite places to go in Burlington. The food is absolutely amazing and the staff are so nice! From the moment you sit down they already have tea for you. One thing weve never figured out is that they give you 1 less menu than the amount of people in your group. But it all works out. The food is absolutely delicious and everything you need is at arms reach at your table. I highly reccommend the medium rare beef soup (101.). It may be one of the most delicious soups on earth..! I am Japanese and I like this restaurant! I have ordered Sushi only. I haven't tried other menus yet. Sushi is good quality and service is good. I pay around 10 dollars for sushi. (5 pieces of sushi and 8 pieces of maki rolls) It's very very affordable. If other people complain that it's not the best quality, this is not the place to go. You can't get the best quality for 10 bucks. Please go to restaurant owned by Japanese. However, if you're looking for affordable, decent quality sushi, I highly recommend Bento Box.
